Clementine Crusade

A devised play about oranges & anti-heroes

Directed by Lily Tanner

How often do you think about oranges?

How much do you care about oranges? The answer to both of those questions is probably, “not a lot.” In Clementine Crusade, people care about oranges a lot. A lot, a lot.

After inheriting their parent’s orange breeding company, two sisters work to build a new future in citrus. One is trying to create the perfect sweet orange, while the other is working to create a blight-resistant variety. Both want to take the juice industry by storm. Only one can win.

In this juicy drama, we will explore what happens when we become so devoted to an ideal that we lose sight of our shared humanity. Sibling will fight sibling, friends will turn to enemies, agents will become double agents, and the characters at the beginning of the play might not even recognize themselves by the end.
